U.S. General Wesley Clark (Ret.), explains that the Bush Administration planned to take out 7 countries in 5 years: Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Lybia, Somalia, Sudan, Iran.
i know it’s complicated and that folks are dying, but i really want folks to think about what they told us was happening in Libya, and how that turned out to be not true. and now Libya is owned by western powers. do we really want the same thing for Syria?
(and is it a coincidence that the U.S. is agitating for a “regime” change Syria just so happens to recognize Palestine, with the 1967 borders and everything? while Israel is just itching to
drop its nuclear bombs oninvade Iran?)
Addressing supporters at a rally in Caracas on Sunday, the Venezuelan leader said the Western countries are setting the stage to oust Syrian President Bashar al-Assad just like they did to “assassinate” former Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi, AFP reported.
The United States and its European allies are intensifying their offensive against Syria, infiltrating terrorists to generate violence, bloodshed and death, just like they did in Libya at the beginning of this year,” Chavez said.
“They managed with bombs not only to topple the Libyan government but to destroy that country and assassinate Colonel Moammar Gaddafi … and now they are taking aim at Syria,” he added.
It is now incumbent on all of the smaller nations of the world, and indeed, on all governments and persons that believe in the concepts of international law and morality, to forcibly register a strong and profound protest against the manner in which the operative principles of the United Nations and the fundamental precepts of international law were flouted and desecrated by the powerful nations of France, Britain and the United States of America ( and their NATO allies) in their actions against the people, government and nation of Libya, and against Libya’s political leader, the late Muammar Qaddafi, over the period of February to October 2011!

The United States and the corporate media would have you believe that President Obama and the U.S. corporate media are celebrating the triumph of a “revolution” in Libya. But there was no revolution. Revolutionaries’ – African revolutionaries – do not name their fighting units ‘the Brigade for Purging Slaves, Black Skin.’
And they have not yet triumphed. The armed conflict in Libya has been an imperial project from the very beginning, and the people know it. Obama is working from an old playbook, deploying Islamists to wage war against non-compliant secular regimes and movements in the Muslim world.
Claims that the Libyan government was employing African mercenaries against the rebels were given credence in some left-wing media as well, even after information contradicting the claims began to surface.
It seems the Freedom Fighters in Libya are upholding one of the most venerable historical traditions of their American mentors: killing Black men.
It’s this amazing toggle switch between “The CIA has been secretly working with them for years” to “bomb them,” with no other options in between. Imagine a world where the United States and Europe mobilized this level of response for when Israel’s Operation Cast Lead attacked the Palestinians, to say nothing of our own aerial bombardment of the peoples of Iraq and Afghanistan. How criminal is Gadhafi’s bombing; how proud were they of Shock and Awe?
